Ну, и что…

Я что-то ЗНАЮ — видел, помню, усвоил-освоил… В этом знании бОльшую часть занимает то, что знают почти ВСЕ. Меньше, гораздо меньше того, что знают немногие. И почти ничего — из того, что не знает никто, почти ничего… За чаем, за бутылочкой что-то могу, наверное, рассказать, но большинству будет скучно, некоторые прислушаются, а еще меньше таких, кому это в резонанс: сказали за них то, что они предчувствовали, чувствовали или даже догадывались, но выразить не могли… Но последних днем с огнем не сыщешь…
Что-то УМЕЮ, с большими трудами освоил, и мог бы, наверное, написать или нарисовать, но почему-то не делаю этого часто, а делаю редко, вот незадача!
Знания и умения, оказывается, маловато. Это банально, и знают многие. Но что может помочь, что надо еще?! Ой, тяжело и писать долго! И точно не скажешь. Поэтому общие два слова назову, неточные, расплывчатые, и всё такое — ТВОРЧЕСКИЙ ПОРЫВ нужен! Энергия для делания… и иллюзия необходимости этого процесса (повторяю за Л.Толстым, что поделаешь…)

Well, Even If It Is So…
I KNOW certain things: I have seen them, I remember them, they are the learned-and-mastered things… Of this knowledge the greater part is occupied by that which almost ALL people know. Smaller, much smaller one is that which know just a few. And there is almost nothing of that which nobody knows, practically nothing… While having some nice tea, or over a bottle of something I can, presumably, tell a thing or two, but it will be boring for the majority of people, a few will listen to it, and even fewer will be those who will resonate to it: something put into words for them, something that they have anticipated, sensed, and even had some guesses about, but couldn’t express on their own… The latter kind you normally meet once in a blue moon…
I have some SKILLS, I have attained them by hard labor, and can do some writing or drawing, though for some reason I don’t do it often, but do it rarely, what a disgrace!
So knowledge and skills are not enough. It is a triviality, and known to many. But what can help, what is wanting?! Oh, that’s a hard one, and will demand such lots of writing! And you cannot word it with precision. So I will just name two general words that are non-precise, vague, etc. – CREATIVE IMPULSE is wanting! The energy to act… as well as the illusion that this process is actually necessary (I am repeating what L. Tolstoy had said, but that cannot be helped…)

Dan Markovich was born on the 9th of October 1940, in Tallinn. For many years his occupation was research in biochemistry, the enzyme studies. Since the middle of the 1970ies he turned to painting, and by now is the author of several hundreds of paintings, and a great number of drawings. He had about 20 solo exhibitions, displaying his paintings, drawings, and photo still-lifes. He is an active web-user, and in 1997 started his “Literature and Arts Almanac Periscope”. In the 1980ies he began to write. He has four books of short stories, essays and miniature sketches (“Hello, Fly!” 1991; “Mamzer” 1994; “By the Sweep of the Tail!” 2008; “The Cookies Book” 2010), he wrote eleven short novels (“LBC”, “The Turncoat”, “Ant”, “Paolo and Rem”, “White Dwarf”, “The Island”, “Jasmine”, “The Last Home”, “Footprints on the Seashore”, “Nemo”), one novel “Vis Vitalis”, and an autobiographical study “The Monologue”.
